1/19 Scale

Commander Douglas I, Almost The Greatest Truck!

This is a photo of it at its height, with mudflaps (minifigure size doors) air intake, sleeper windows, and steps/gas tank; but no exhaust pipes. I built this in 2000 sometime, and I had to make a special order for enough wheels (unfortunately I did not know about www.brickbay.com then). I built it without plans, just a matchbox model rig, and that is why it is not quite big enough fit a technic figure.

Commander Douglas III, The Greatest Truck!!

First of all, this one is motorized and has steering! It's a first :-) It has two exhaust pipes made with 2x2 rounds strung through a Technic axle. As well as more realistic air intakes, front grill, mud flaps , and trailer hitch although still not proper. It has a motor under the sleeper which has an axle to some bevel gears and send power to the wheels through an eight-tooth gear connected to some 16-tooth gears, so all eight are motorized. The steering is modeled after a John Deer tractor I rode in once. But it has a knob between the two air intakes so it looks kinda weird. I took the pictures on a mirror for reflection but it didn't work all that great.
